Free Hugs

The night was October 15 th and the sky was an absolute pit of darkness except for

the calming tone of the full moon. But the tone would not stay calm all that long.

On my way home I passed a gas station where the price of gas was $2.99 per gallon

which is a horror in itself. The point is not the price but the thing that was standing

under the dimly lit sign. A man holding balloons and a poster saying “Free Hugs”

but when my friend and I examined him, it wasn’t just a man. He was wearing a

red nose and had rainbow hair and bleeding smile with missing teeth. No this

wasn’t just a party entertainer leaving his gig, this was someone who was up to

more sinister things. As we drove closer he released his balloons and sprinted

toward our vehicle slamming the sign into the passenger window and honking a

little horn over and over. We sped off immediately and I dropped my friend off at

his home then went back to my house to forget all about this internet trend turned

true story. When I was getting ready for bed I went to close my blinds and as I was

about to I looked towards the street and under the flickering street light was that

same clown holding the poster and waving. The blinds dropped right as I saw this

and when I went to pull them up to see if I was going crazy but the street light was

off and only the moons glow lit the block with no clown in sight. I lay in bed and

try my hardest to fall asleep after all I just saw. I eventually do until I’m woken

hours later by a tap on my window, I play it off as if I’m tired but then another tap

and another and another. I get up and pray that it’s not what I think it might be, I

then open the blinds something was covering the window, it was a sign that says

“Free Hugs” and right above that was a face with a red nose and rainbow hair

lightly tapping the window. The blinds drop again for some reason because

everything has to go wrong in a horror story. But when I pull it up the clown is

gone and all that’s left is finger lines on the window that spell “I know you are

alone” followed by a jiggle on my bedroom door.
