Tallwood Soccer Looks for Wins

The Tallwood High School soccer tryouts were held last week, Monday through Wednesday.

“This year should be a good year; we have a good team and I think we will do well,” said Ethan Hixon, a goalie for Tallwood High School.

There are seventeen girls on the JV Soccer team ranging from Freshmen to Sophomores. Last year the girls did very well compared to the boys, who gave it their best shot but didn’t get very far.

“If we all work together then we can do better than we are now,” said Tyanna Lamar, JV Soccer Player.

The teams have been doing speed drills and endurance drills, along with ways to increase their accuracy during games. Team Practice lasts two hours and thirty minutes, but lately the teams have been splitting the time up.

“We play for about an hour and thirty minutes on the field, and then for the rest of the time we practice drills, along with taking team pictures,” said Tyanna.

The first game is on the 15th of March. The team, along with coach Whiteman, have high hopes for the first win of the season.
