The Operation Smile club had elected their new club officers for the school year of 2016-2017:

Christian Belgrave:  Club President

Caroline Vorndran:  Club Vice President

Jack Schmeiser:  Club Historian

Noah Wexler:  Club Secretary/Treasurer

Congratulations everyone!  I can already tell that this year of The Operation Smile club will be very influential and fun!

While at the meeting, we also discussed different ways to help children who have a certain medical condition, Cleft lip / Cleft palate.

If you do not already know, children who have this type of medical condition are the main reason why this club was established.  The goal of the club is to help children receive surgery to fix their cleft lip or cleft palate.  The surgery can last between 2-6 hours, depending on the child’s type of cleft palate/lip.

In order to help these children, we must raise money.  That’s where we step in.  In the next few months, the Operation Smile Club will be holding a few fundraisers to help raise money for both Tallwood and the organization itself.

You can help also help by taking part in our fundraisers.  In January 2017, we will be doing the annual ‘Tape the Teacher’ fundraiser, where you can vote for a teacher that you would want to see taped.  We will also be selling spirit socks (I promise, they are amazing) and possibly do a hat day where you can wear your favorite hat all day at school.  Keep a look out for these great opportunities.

Another thing you can do is join the Operation Smile Club.  Our sponsor, Ms. Dossett, will welcome you with open arms.  Or you could volunteer.  Either way, there are endless ways you can help out.
