The Tallwood Girls Varsity Gymnastics team had a competition against fellow Virginia schools Frank W. Cox, Landstown, and Princess Anne. The competition was held at Landstown High school on January 12th, 2023.

While the event is competitive, the Gymnastics coach, Elizabeth Rudd, wanted to use the competition to help the gymnasts gain experience.

“Going into these meets is really more of a practice for the girls in a competitive setting,” said Coach Rudd.

Senior gymnast, Crystal Gilbert, helps use these competitions and experiences to further her skills and reach her goals. Being able to have a strong and supportive team aided in helping the girls to improve their skills and work together.

“Gymnastics is like home to me. It’s tough but it brings me such happiness when I finally reach a goal I was working towards,” said Crystal.

The gymnastics season is expecting another three meets to help prepare the girls for regionals. To help prepare for the competition, the gymnasts are working on personal goals to increase their skills.

“The girls have been working hard, had a break over Christmas break and then we came back, started working hard,” stated Coach Rudd.
