“For Honor” and Honorable Effort from Ubisoft Games

Charles Romano

For Honor introduces interesting and very addictive gameplay with it’s hack and slash style. Hack and slash games normally become boring and uninteresting after playing for awhile, but this isn’t the case with For Honor.

With it’s uniquely ancient-style, warrior-type fighting, it’s nice to finally get my hands on a melee weapon (rather than a gun) for a combat scenario for once. What really intrigues me is the fact that someone has decided to put this very interesting concept together–having a knight, samurai, and a viking go head to head in a bloody conquest for glory and territory.

It’s the medieval period, and, after a catastrophic event, three fearsome types of warriors and their factions are plunged into a full scale war. The player gets to choose between the three warriors: Samurai, Knight, and Viking (all of which have their own agendas). For instance, the Viking wishes to claim more land for his clan, while the Samurai wishes to restore peace and order between every faction.

For Honor is similar to Halo Wars 2, plot wise. Both games have different factions fighting for their own virtues and agendas. Along with that, in For Honor and Halo Wars 2, outcomes can be determined by a player’s actions and strategizing.

Whoever at Ubisoft came up with the idea to pin these three warrior types together was thinking quite brilliantly. Never have I ever imagined that anyone would come up with this idea.

Overall, For Honor is, without a doubt, a magnificent game. And I encourage anyone to pick it up as soon as they can.
