What did you commit to in December?
While a small portion of people may have decided to enter a new chapter last month, most people likely waited until January 1st before dedicating themselves to a goal.
The new year was right around the corner. You may have found yourself thinking, “wouldn’t it make more sense to wait? Everyone makes a New Year’s resolution.”
However, waiting for the “perfect” day to start working towards something will leave anyone never to even take the first step; the momentum created from starting early can be just as impactful as the regret created from procrastinating progress.
While January first may be a great day of the year to start working towards a goal, so are any of the other 364. 01/01 is just a date on a calendar.
Some say that a single rose on an unexpected weekday is more meaningful than a whole bouquet on Valentine’s Day because affection that doesn’t feel necessitated shows more dedication than conformity to tradition.
In the same way, doesn’t it show more dedication to oneself to commit to a goal without occasion?
