On Thursday, February 16th, 2017 the Jordanian delegation arrived in the United States to see what Tallwood High School is all about.

Many different countries around the world are partnered up with Tallwood, so the academy frequently has students coming and going. It gives everyone involved the opportunity to connect and learn from their experiences.

During the Jordanian cafe there was a bittersweet feeling in the air as everyone laughed at memories but also felt the dread of saying goodbye.

“…We deeply appreciate our work together for the past six years and as we gather here today to celebrate our collaborative success of this wonderful and meaningful experience, and we realize that it is our differences that bring us together,” said Mrs. Farrah Saad, teacher at Amman Baccalaureate school.

The Jordanians danced, wore traditional clothing, enlightened us with information about Jordan, and shared some classic food and snacks. Videos compiled of short clips from both the Jordanians’ stay in Virginia and Tallwood students in Jordan were also played.

Up to thirty students from Tallwood attended the cafe and all of them reportedly had a great experience. After the fun times shown by the videos, a good number of people said they would be signing up to host other delegations next year.

“I went to the cafe because I am interested in that culture and I wanted to meet new people,” said Rebecca Brown, 10th grade academy student from Tallwood High school.

Overall, the cafe was kept very lighthearted throughout the duration of the festivities.
