“Bleeding Earth” Engaging and Scary Read

Bleeding Earth Engaging and Scary Read

Maggie Haggerty

I fell in love with this book.  “Bleeding Earth” by Kaitlin Ward is the perfect blend of mystery, suspense, and (of course) horror.  It kept me on my toes at every turn, and just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does.  And the characters are so unique and engaging, it’s unlike anything I’ve seen in a long time.  It was beautifully constructed, and it’s use of mixed media (such as flyers) complemented the story in a unique way.  A fair warning: this story contains a lesbian relationship between the main characters. And a fair amount of gore. Don’t like, don’t read.

This story is classic psychological horror.  One day the Earth starts bleeding human blood.  The blood drives people to madness. And as the streets fill with it Lea becomes trapped in her house… and her mind.  Her relationships begin to fall apart, and suddenly everything isn’t just about waiting for the blood to disappear. It’s about surviving it.

Reminiscent to Edgar Allan Poe’s tales of terror, this story is perfect for horror lovers everywhere.
