Relay for Life Scheduled for June

A race to the finish line or a race for a cure? Relay for Life is not really a race at all. It is in fact a fundraiser more than an athletic event.

For this current year, Relay for Life will be held in a district of over four different cities, which will include Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth. The general location is somewhere with a track where multiple different laps are walked for different reasons.

What exactly is Relay for Life supporting? It actually supports Cancer research. Some of the laps walked include those for survivors, those who have passed, etc. The idea is to have a team in which it’s best to have a person from your team walking the whole time to show spirit. Anyone can join and it’s also children friendly. There will be games, music, food, and more!

This years Relay will be held June 2nd and 3rd, which is Friday and Saturday.

“The point of that is that cancer never sleeps so neither will we, so for a day we’re up for almost 24 hours together,” said Arielle Rosenberg, President of the Relay for Life club and Senior at Tallwood High school.

“The sun goes down on one day and comes up another day, and we get to see.. Its symbolic,” Arielle continued.
