Dice, the company that created this magnificent game, kicks things off and brings its players into the gritty and horrifying view of the First World War. Right off the bat, Battlefield 1 quickly executes its current theme with a realistic and excellent experience. One will feel as though they are truly involved in the events of the first world war with Battlefield 1’s campaign and multiplayer.

One should start with the campaign, for the game will quickly address that you’re not some kind of super soldier. Rather, you’re just another simple foot soldier trying to survive and live through the horrifying scenario you have enlisted or drafted into.

This feeling is amazing, for too many first person shooters these days are making one feel like a god type of figure. Multiplayer is heavily immersive, with all new game modes added into the mix. One of these is “operations,” where players are placed into the combat boots of soldiers who fought in historic events.

Gameplay is fun, realistic, and overall just remarkable as Dice has executed some outstanding achievements that deserve high praise. Mud on guns, glistening rain on uniforms, and actual warfare experience is all part of why players become immersed into the game.

Following the steady events that have plunged the world into a full scale war, players are soldiers fighting within trenches, sand dunes, or high above the skies. Before anything even begins, the game provides some dialogue that reminds one that they are not a god like soldier, and that, in war, nothing is pretty. Along with that, the game clearly states that this “war to end all wars” never ended anything at all.

The game has me coming back to memories of Call Of Duty: World At War, as the brutality and hopelessness within the game feel all too real. Along with that, the many vehicles that one has access to while on the battlefield is similar. Customizing classes and choosing through which class I should use for my next respawn also have me reminiscing to days when I played Call Of Duty: World At War.

I should also mention that Battlefield 1 has changed my whole outlook on the first world war, as I at first thought that the war wasn’t that interesting. Jeez, was I heavily mistaken.

Overall, Dice did a phenomenal job with Battlefield 1. It really seems like this game will stick around for quite a while, with an always flowing multiplayer atmosphere. Along with that, it comes with a lot of replay value, with endless weapons and achievements for players to obtain.
