How would you react if your animal was a product of animal testing?
Being tormented, kept in a lab, bleeding, or suffering in any way.
No matter what animal you have, imagine if your dog were to be tested on before being given to you or your family? If my dog, Mocha was a product of any type of animal testing for any product, company, or brand I would be devastated. No animal, especially one that you love should be a testing animal.
“Cruelty free” on products that we commonly buy in stores like deodorants, shampoos, and lotions is not often an accurate disclaimer (Timeline: Cosmetics testing on animals | The Humane Society of the United States). Luckily, Donald Trump has made animal testing illegal in the United States during his term in office. You can be fined or sentenced up to seven years in federal prison for animal cruelty, but that does not include animal testing.
Animal Testing is banned in only twelve states: California, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington. Animal testing must be outlawed in every state in the United States to protect the well-being of animals and uphold ethical standards in society.
Animal testing around the world is at an all time high, with more than one hundred million animals worldwide being used in laboratory experiments (Brands).
Animal testing happens frequently around the world, with China being the number one country, followed by Japan, then the United States.
Animal testing should be banned for ethical reasons and beliefs. Animals who can experience suffering just like a human and subjecting them to harmful experiments for the benefit of humans is morally wrong (FDA 92%). Animal testing does not provide reliable results and could unnecessarily harm animals without the benefit of human health.
Animals cannot consent. Animals that are used in experiments do not consent to being used in testing, as they are animals. They cannot talk or provide consent in their participation. If animal testing is banned in America, it could tremendously help research become more accurate and precise. There would be no need to worry if it is safe to use on humans, on skin, if it is even okay to mix products together without irritation. Animals have a harder time with allergic reactions because they are more sensitive to pain as humans have immediate cures and solutions.
