Lion Voices: What did you do this Summer?

Bethany Hansel

What were Tallwood students up to this summer? Here’s what a few had to say:

Isabella Fuller: “I went to Russia, Busch Gardens, and Water Country, and my family got a cabin at First Landing State Park for the week down by the beach.”

Francis Lu: “I went to Virginia Tech for the agriculture program for a month and then I went to Canada for four days to attend a wedding.”

Mimi Trieu: “I went to Costa Rica for nine days. It was really lit. Then, I went to American University to study engineering.”

Marcie Fennell: “This summer, I went to Costa Rica with the academy and I saw lots of things. We saw a waterfall, and we had to truck 600 steps down and then up, and that killed me. Then I saw monkeys and alligators and we got to pet an alligator in a lake (I didn’t do that because I’m not that stupid). Then we went to a coffee farm (coffee is amazing in Costa Rica) and I bought three bags of coffee and some other things.”

Destiny Smith: “I did an early college program at the University of Alabama, and I took women’s studies and the basic college introduction course. It was not as exciting as I had hoped it would be, and I don’t want to go to the University of Alabama anymore, but it was a good experience to know what the college I was hoping to get into was like without actually be in the college, and luckily my credits were transferable.”

Staz Maletz: “I worked. I work at Waffle House out in Portsmith, and I worked pretty much everyday. I think I had a collective five days off the whole summer. There was one day I ended up working almost 24 hours because nobody wanted to show up and I was the only one willing to work, but they finally convinced me to go home.”
