The 100 Offers Thrills and Sci-Fi Delight
February 23, 2017
On March 19, 2014 one of greatest sci-fi shows was created: The 100. The 100 is a TV show of a society that was surviving in space on a spaceship called the ark, but they were running out of air. They sent 100 people that had broken the law to Earth to see if it was survivable, and it was. However, the real test wasn’t getting to Earth, but surviving it.
The main things the 100 focuses on are survival and choices. When they first arrived to “the ground” as they call it, they thought they were alone. They were wrong. People known as the grounders had already been down for a long time now and they weren’t happy that they had company. A war between the grounders and the sky people started to brew.
To know about this season you must know a little about the last. In season 3, the conflict of the story involved a robot named Alie. She could make all your pain go away and make you live in this perfect world known as the City Of Light, but in order to do this, you had to consume a chip. This chip would grant you what you wanted. However, she would control your mind, and whatever she wanted you to do, you HAD to do it.
After the main character, Clarke, was about to destroy Alie, Alie revealed a dangerous outcome of the Earth. It was being taken over by radioactivity, and the Earth was assumed to be unsurvivable in the time of only three short months. This season isn’t about trying to survive the people whom you share the ground with, but mother nature herself.
One of the biggest things people like about The 100 is how “real” it is. Obviously we aren’t going to have this huge nuclear explosion that will make everyone go live in space anytime soon, but it could be a possible outcome in the future. While they’re on the ground, they had to fight many battles and had to use their brain for many things that were realistic enough to pull off in real life, under the circumstances.
The main goal in The 100 is to survive, taking each day one at a time. That’s all they can do. The show is truly incredible. It covers almost every topic; action, sexuality, fighting, romance, and more. If you ever want to a new show to binge, The 100 is it.
