War Dogs is Dynamic and Engaging

War Dogs is a crime/drama film based on true events that took place in 2005. The movie features characters Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz, childhood friends who work together to become very successful, and very wealthy, international arms dealers (or “gun runners”). The duo starts out small but soon find themselves taking on far more than what they can handle after landing a $300 million dollar deal.

This movie contains the perfect mix of drama, action, comedy, and suspense. It first sets the tone with David Packouz’ poor living situation–with a newly pregnant wife and not nearly enough income to begin supporting a family–and depicts his personal successes and defeats along the way to becoming a multimillionaire. This film shows incredible contrast between David and Efraims life styles as they gain more and more money. It creates a brilliant emotional connection, making their $300 million dollar deal all the more suspenseful.

Alongside the juxtaposition of David and Efraims lives, one of my favorite qualities of this movie is how well it portrays the characters. The film presents the importance and anticipation of every dramatic event, while still keeping the audience fully involved with the characters personal state of being. It also brings many strong traits to the table such as selfishness, determination, carelessness, and so forth.

Overall, this movie perfectly captured the true events that took place between Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz.
