Over the last few years in Virginia Beach, I spent my time practicing my drawing skills. There were many times when the art wasn’t perfect, yet it was helpful. I learned from my mistakes. I wouldn’t have gotten into drawing if it weren’t for school. There’s a memory of my first time in art class. Using a vast variety of tools like watercolor, chalk, acrylic, pencils, and brushes, I was free to create the masterpieces I desired. My classmates couldn’t resist creating their own masterpieces as well. It became a mess, but it was an artist’s work. All of this could not have been possible if my school didn’t see the importance of creativity in the classroom.
Jobs expect a lot from their applicants. The manager does so many interviews, yet they never seem to hire anybody at all. Most applicants do not get hired for a job. They lack a certain skill that most managers do not find. Creativity is that certain skill. Schools need to teach about creativity more since jobs find it useful. Jobs are looking for somebody who will introduce new ideas to the company, not somebody who just follows instructions. There needs to be schools that follow Tallwood High School’s lead in making one of the classes in the arts mandatory. If a person doesn’t have the ability to think outside of the box, most jobs will not hire them.
There’s a vast collection of fields like engineering, medicine, and architecture that look for creativity. These fields are looking for those types of individuals who will take the extra mile. Imagine if there were several applicants and the manager could only take one. Between the applicants, most of them have the same skills, yet only one stands out. The company sees the one as innovative because of their new ideas and methods. That one applicant will be hired over the others. There are so many figures that made major accomplishments. Issac Newton is one of those figures. If he didn’t find out that gravity existed when that apple fell on his head, gravity would not be known as well. Without creativity, people would be left without a job skill used frequently in jobs. There’s no way to get a job without thinking outside of the box.
Some folks may argue that schools have more important skills to teach, but they don’t understand how often creativity is used throughout life. Creativity is the foundation of the human mind. By using creativity, students can make an impact on the world. There are many opportunities to look outside of the box and discover the options in the world. Imagine a Tallwood High School student who just graduated. There are many paths for them to follow, but they will only pick the one that fits their skills. Using creativity to their advantage, they are able to figure out which path is the best for them. If schools didn’t teach about creativity, students wouldn’t go with a career that they are happy with. High schools should ensure that students are taught about creativity. It allows students to go on the path they truly desire.
There are many places where creativity can be used. It can be used at schools or applied in everyday life. It can be used to get a job. There are opportunities for new ideas, and it pushes people into the right path. Creativity helps all students think differently and try out new ideas. Students need it to continue their education and their life. High schools should teach creativity to all students due to how helpful it can be.
