Moe’s Southwest Grill Vs. Chipotle has been a debate on who is the better Tex-Mex fast food restaurant since the early 2000’s. Now I’m here to tell you that I have taken the job of graciously reviewing and analyzing these two places to the best of my ability in order to help big back high school kids like me to make the most of their money while getting some delicious Tex-Mex. So for a better understanding I’ll break down which place is better through 3 categories: cost, taste, and quantity.
When it comes to their prices people will usually think that Chipotle cost more. However, those people would be mistaken! A lot of additional cost at Chipotle come from double protein, queso, guacamole, chips, etc. For our example we will use the most popular item from both places: the bowl. Chipotle is well renowned for their bowls and when someone usually talks about Chipotle they’ll always ask what’s their go to bowl order. When adding all ingredients together that have no additional cost with a chicken bowl, which is the cheapest and most popular type of meat, the total will come out to $10.44 after tax. This seems like a lot but you can double everything besides protein, guac, and queso for no additional cost. On the other hand Moe’s is more expensive with their chicken bowl costing $12.44 after tax. However, with Moe’s you can get a free bag of chips and salsa with whatever entree you want. Even though you may get a free bag of chips that doesn’t take away the fact that the price is not adjusted even when you take the chips away. So by pure cost Chipotle wins and is up one to zero.
Now it’s time to determine taste. Taste is very biased especially when it comes to the restaurants that can fit different situations to satisfy people’s needs. So besides thinking of taste I will think of what can satisfy people more. Chipotle has fresh ingredients, multiple different combinations, 6 different protein options, one vegetarian option, and 5 different entree options. All food selections require additional cost for queso and guac besides the vegetarian option where you automatically get guacamole inside your bowl. Unfortunately Moe’s smacks Chipotle in the face when it comes to this category. They have everything Chipotle has to offer with the addition of 2 more entrees: their signature stacker and nachos. Both new entrees also come with queso for free. Lastly Moe’s has a plethora of more ingredients than Chipotle allowing more combinations to be created as well as an additional ingredient Chipotle doesn’t have being their sauces that allow different flavors on top of your entrees. Moes easily takes the point tying the score one to one.
Looking at the category it seems easy to determine which one is the winner. It is and the winner is clearly Moe’s. Chipotle has been getting in recent trouble for skipping out on people’s orders especially when it comes to the protein. Chipotle is so unreliable to the point where you have to walk inside just to make sure they make your meal correctly. Never trust an online Chipotle order or you’ll learn the hard way. Moe’s does a great job just making sure you have plenty of everything and the free bag of chips already solidified their win, not to mention the many ingredients you can use that you can’t even think about getting at Chipotle. Moe’s wins with a score of two to one.
Although I may say Moe’s is better, don’t let that stop me from getting your favorite meal. Chipotle is delicious and fresh so if you still like it over Moe’s then keep getting it. Moe’s has more potential for you to enjoy it more. That doesn’t mean you can’t love them both or like Chipotle more.
