Ninety-one criminal charges, four court cases, and a wide range of accusations. To avoid allowing a potential felon like Donald Trump into office, something must be done. The 2024 election concerns everyone. Trump should not be on the ballot as a 2024 presidential candidate due to his many legal troubles before, during, and after his presidency.
Donald Trump became the 45th president in November of 2016. Throughout his presidency, Trump was banned from Twitter due to provocative tweets, incited an insurrection at the capitol, and was impeached twice, and that’s not even half of it.
As many other presidents have been in legal trouble, Trump is the only president to ever be charged with criminal charges. The Constitution Amendment 14 Article 3, states “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.” As a Republican, Trump has captured the hearts of the party and its supporters, but, according to Politico, if Trump is found guilty fewer people will support his candidacy.
After the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump tried to overturn the election results after losing to Joe Biden. Trump claims he was cheated out of the election, which shortly led to the riot in the U.S. Capitol caused by his supporters. The continuous lies from Trump about the election results caused national mistrust in the election and caused people to lose faith in the election. Trump’s efforts make him eligible for the disqualification clause, which would make him ineligible to become president again.
For the first time in U.S. history, a president was impeached twice in one term. Donald Trump constantly tries to interfere with the election process and should not get a chance to be president again. After supporting the attacks made by his supporters on the capitol, “The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by rioters. ” Trump even supported extremist groups financially and issued apologies to them for being arrested, showing his lack of understanding regarding this catastrophic event.
Donald Trump should not be a presidential candidate due to the fact he is facing multiple criminal charges. It’s known from his first term in office that Trump doesn’t care about breaking the rules.
