On Friday, March 3rd, Tallwood High School’s Global Studies and World Languages Academy will be having an Academy Ball in the Tallwood commons.

“I am excited for Global Studies and World Languages Academy Students to have this ball.  Global Ball, that’s what they are calling it. It’s something they wanted for a long time,” said Mrs. Rebecca Gurley, Global Studies and World Languages Academy Coordinator. Many students share her excitement as this dance date comes closer and closer.

“Of course non-academy students can come to, but it’s a time for academy students to let loose and have fun and experience all the cultures,” said Zinyka Wessells, a Senior at Tallwood High School. Many academy students view this dance to be a great way for academy students connect and have fun.

“Mostly it’s the students doing the planning and organizing. The catering class will provide the food, so that’s a great opportunity for them and for us to work together within the school,” said Mr. Greg Falls, a Social Studies teacher at Tallwood High School. This event is made for the students, by the students.

The students making this event are working hard to make this dance enjoyable for all of the academy students who plan on attending.

“The Academy Ball is something we wanted since my freshman year, so it’s been a long time coming. I tried to get it going last year, but there was just not enough time,” said Elizabeth Mitchell (pictured above), a Senior at Tallwood.

The Academy Ball’s theme is “A Night Around The World.”
