With the Varsity Gymnastics season coming to an end, the team spoke a bit on the season, and even though they struggled to get some wins, they are looking ahead.

The team worked together and were very motivated, displaying excellent cooperation.

“I think I cooperated well with the team at all times,” said Maegan Reddick, Member of the Varsity Gymnastics team. “I tried to motivate everyone as much as possible and I tried to push them to try new skills. I encouraged them to keep trying when they wanted to give up.”

Goals were a major part of the team, specifically the players’ personal goals. When talking to Ashley Katz, Coach of the Varsity Gymnastics team, she touched upon the subject.

“We strived to set new goals and personal records for ourselves,” she said. “Obviously the goal was to beat the other team, but I wanted them to have a solid routine, I wanted them to stick to their routines, and so I wanted them to do the best that they possibly could. As long as they did that, and they put their heart out on the routine, I was happy.”

Practice is a major part of the sport, and the team definitely wants to continue with what they’ve started.

“We’re going to start conditioning in the Spring, we’re going to go to a gymnastics gym, starting in the Springtime. I’m going to bring the team so we can kind of get more practice on the equipment, and then our team goal next year is to qualify for conference as a team,” Coach Katz explained.

The team struggled a bit, mainly due to the lack of foundation compared to other schools.

“I think our team struggled because not many of us train outside of school practice, while most girls from the other teams in our district have been training in gyms since they were very young,” Reddick stated.
