Don’t Bother with “Don’t Breathe”

The movie Don’t Breathe is about a group of teenagers who, in their spare time, rob houses that are owned by wealthy people. As word gets around that a blind veteran had won a very big cash settlement, the 3 teenagers decide to add the veteran’s house onto their long list of robberies. After the intruders make their way inside, they end up finding themselves being trapped inside with a not-so-vulnerable war veteran, fighting their way to escape. After one long night of fighting for their lives, some make it out alive and others do not; which in the end questions the whole value of that cash settlement. Was it really worth it?

The movie Don’t Breathe is not only a waste of time but a waste of money. Throughout the movie, the insufficient amount of time that was spent on the film was very evident. Not only was the overall storyline and plot very basic and stereotypical when it comes to thriller movies, but the ending was also very expected as it fitted the typical thriller movie scenario.  Another thing that was very disappointing was not only the acting, but the storyline as well, which was very drab.  Throughout the movie it just kind of felt like not only the writer, but the producer as well, were just trying to get the movie to end, since they barely focused on any details when it came to the overall buildup of the movie.

On the other hand, there were a few good things about the movie that the audience evidently enjoyed. Not only were there a few parts throughout the movie that would make you laugh, but the movie also included the suspense that every thriller needs to keep the audience on their feet. Another thing that benefited the overall experience of the movie was that it gave the typical thriller experience that everyone has come to know and love.

The movie Don’t Breathe is probably in the middle when it comes to the satisfaction scale, as I would rate it about 5 or 6 stars.  For every negative thing that occurred in the movie, there was a positive thing that helped balance it out and in the end gave a neutral feeling for the whole movie. Whether you like thriller movies or not, this one is definitely the kind of movie one would wait until it’s available somewhere else at a way cheaper price before they watched it, because in overall it’s not worth the amount of money one would typically spend for a movie.
