Suicide Squad an Overhyped Mess

Suicide Squad is a disappointment of a movie for people who go in with high expectations. Nothing positive about this movie sticks out to an audience full of DC Comic fans. Especially to someone who is critical about most films, this movie had an awful script, mediocre acting, and an unsatisfying soundtrack.

To start off, the movie was way too hyped up for several months prior to the actual release. The cast for this film appeared to be quite promising; but only ended up being disappointing. I’m not entirely sure if it’s the actors that are entirely at fault, as the script was written in 6 weeks. Margot Robbie and Will Smith somehow deliver decent acting to their roles, apart from some unnecessary cheesy lines that were painful to hear, they actually had a fresh twist on their characters’ storylines that made the film a little less awful. Aside from them, the rest of roles didn’t seem as prominent or as relevant to the rest of the movie. Jared Leto had most scenes cut from the film, but the scenes that were there were bland and frankly, uninteresting. I know most of the hype for this film was mainly captivated by the expectations of the “Joker”, but unfortunately those expectations were not met and he didn’t deliver a satisfying take on the character.

The movie didn’t grasp me as an audience member, the only parts that reached me were the ones that were horribly acted. There wasn’t a balance of comedy and action, everything seemed horribly uneven and there wasn’t enough thrill or suspense to catch my attention. There was a sense of predictability sprinkled in almost every single scene and the graphics or CGI used in the movie looked very tacky. There honestly shouldn’t be any lazily placed CGI in any movie, but Suicide Squad didn’t seem to quite care.

Overall, Suicide Squad was very lazily put together, and didn’t meet the expectations of fans. The work that was put into this movie doesn’t seem like it was for the fans, but more for the money. There wasn’t a quality moment in this movie, or even a scene in this movie where I felt like there was actual care put into making the movie to please the fans, but it felt like the production was mainly only for money.
