THS Kicks off “Hairspray” Audition Process

THS Kicks off Hairspray Audition Process

Mycah Jewell, Staff Writer

On Wednesday and Friday, the THS drama department kicked off the auditions for the upcoming musical: Hairspray. This will be the first musical Tallwood has put on in five years, opening the doors for fresh and talented rising stars. These are the first set of auditions, there will be three more in the upcoming months. Here’s what a few of the auditioning students had to say.

Kaytlynnn was auditioning for Penny/Tracy and is excited to bring her talents to the musical. On and off the stage, Kaytlynn is a team player. The other students that auditioned said that Kaytlynn would be a great addition to the cast, because of all the positive vibes she brings with her. It should be no surprise to us that Kaytlynn has been working with Mr. C in his drama classes for all of her years in high school. Here is what she has to say about Hairspray:

“I am super excited for the upcoming musical. The people here will make a great team, however we need more people. For those of you who don’t know what Hairspray is, come anyway and show support for your school”

Friday I stumbled upon Daniel (auditioning for Link) and Zahria (Auditioning for Little Inez).

These talented young students have known each other for a long time and can’t wait to show off their teamwork with Hairspray. Both are very gifted singers (Daniel sung ‘Those magic changes’ from Grease) and will bring a lot of energy to the stage. Zahria is a veteran actress contrary to her counterpart. This will be Daniel’s first musical if he makes the cut. The duo are excited to show the world what they can do in Hairspray, and recommend that everyone come to the brilliant reproduction of Hairspray.
