The 8th annual “Friendable Prom” took place this weekend on May 6, 2015, with around 180 people attending. It is a dance for people with a disability who did not get a chance to go to their own prom.

Friendable Prom is the biggest event for the Nobel Teens club. People come dressed up for a night of dancing, eating, and having fun.

This year the theme for the dance was a masquerade ball, where people chose a mask decorated by the Nobel Teens. About the event, Ms. Murray says, “Students are sometimes changed by the experience more than the people attending.”

This year, twenty-three students volunteered as either a bartender (lemonade), dancer, server, or greeter. As a volunteer myself I can definitely say that it was an eye opening experience and I hope to do it again next year.

Nicholas Bausas, another volunteer, says, “I had fun and gained experience and respect for disabled people.”

Friendable Prom is a great experience for both the volunteers and the people attending.
