Most sequels make people nervous, especially sequels from franchises that have been out of theatres for a while. But Star Wars: The Force Awakens did not disappoint. The new characters and the special effects were exceptional. However, the dialogue could’ve used some work and the backstory on some of the characters felt a little rushed.

There were many new characters added in The Force Awakens including Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, and Poe Dameron, and BB-8. Rey and Kylo Ren were the main protagonists and Antagonists of the movie. Rey is a lonely scavenger who was abandoned on the desert planet of Jakku by her parents when she was a baby. It’s never revealed to us who her parents are, but I think that will be revealed to us in the next movie.

Kylo Ren is the evil son of Han Solo and General Leia Organa. He wants to finish what his grandfather Darth Vader started years ago. BB-8 is the droid of Poe Dameron who is General Leia’s best pilot. BB-8 was loved for being so cute.

Finn was Stormtrooper who decided to leave The First Order and join the Rebellion. While they could’ve delved a little deeper into the backstory and some of the dialogue could’ve been better, the new characters were good overall.

The special effects were also really good in The Force Awakens. The light saber effects were exceptionally good. Kylo Ren’s lightsaber has to the best looking lightsaber in the entire franchise. With the lightning effects going up and down, it looked really cool.
