As graduation creeps up, I begin to realize how fortunate I am to have gone to Tallwood and the experiences I have had with all my friends, acquaintances, teachers, and staff. Of course, school was not always fun, and most of the time, my mind was focused more on the future, but in the end, you’ll want to wish you savored the moments in the present.
There’s always ups and downs to the school you go to. Tallwood, in my opinion, had more ups than downs. From the building itself to the teachers and staff, I liked all of it. I’ve never been enthusiastic about Tallwood, but if I had to choose to do high school again, I would choose Tallwood once more.
So, to all the underclassmen, make sure not to stress too much about the future, focus on what feels right in the moment, and worry about the rest later. Everything will be figured out eventually.
And if there’s extra chances to take a class you haven’t, I recommend doing it because it could lead to some sort of career discovery or hobby. Maybe you’ll pick up a class like journalism and discover a liking to it.
The rollercoaster of emotions, turning in assignments right before midnight, hitting snooze on your alarm, and being late to class is what makes up your high school life, and without it, would it really be the average high school experience? Enjoy the dreadful moments, the happy moments, and even the sad ones because there’s only so much you can experience as a high schooler.
The experiences faced during this time could make you a better person or a worse person, but life is all about discovery, and eventually, you’ll discover yourself.
