As we get closer and closer to the end of the school year, seniors are getting ready to pack their bags and leave to go their own ways. They’ve experienced their 4 years in high school, so what do they have to tell those who are just starting high school?
These three senior students were interviewed and asked the same question, “What advice do you have for the Freshmen in Tallwood?”
“My biggest advice would be, when you come in, have a plan for the classes you take especially. My biggest focus was college, just doing well to get a good school, and I really wish I planned out what classes I wanted to take and what I wanted to spend my summers doing.” Responded Cameron Sasser. “So I would say plan your classes a few years ahead and what you think you can do each summer. Make sure you’re applying to stuff, like extra curricular programs.”
“Honestly, just stay true to yourself. Come in with a positive mindset and there’s gonna be some things that seem hard and difficult, but as through time, you’re gonna learn that things are gonna get easier. The teachers are here to help you, and it’s a very good safe zone so that you don’t have too much to worry about. It’s just that you have to have a good mindset first.” Said Nysaun Vaughan. “There’s gonna be times where you think you can’t do something or it’s too hard, but like I said, you have people that’ll help you. You just gotta trust yourself and the people around you.”
“Make time for yourself, burning the candle at both ends is just a dumb idea.” Alyssa Lopez replied. “Stay in school too, your grades will carry on to your senior year. Not to sound like a teacher, but you aren’t too cool for school, these are important terms. If you need new accommodations, please, get them or ask about them, you’ll only be helping yourself. Get involved too! You’ll meet a lot of good people and develop more experience and skills. Also stop fighting, you’ll just be ruining things for you and everything about you.”
“Don’t forget to try and have fun, though.” She adds. “Time flies.”
