As the 2023-24 school year comes to an end, anticipation for the upcoming year arises in fall sports. With the start of the fall season quickly approaching, Tallwood Football is gearing up for what is sure to be an exciting and triumphant season. 

Under the coaching of Mr. Paxton, the team has been in top form, focused on improving their already obtained skills from the previous season while setting new standards to prepare for their very first game.

“I think one of the reasons I enjoy coaching this team is really seeing the growth that all the players are going through, both from their skills, their dedication and helping out, and that’s one thing I feel we’ve really carried over from last year to this year,” Stated Paxton. 

Although every team needs its coach, this one has made strides in self-discipline. Paxton continued, “The team runs themselves really well, and they all really buy into it and want to do well.”

Since January, the team has conditioned tirelessly in order to be in top shape for the coming games. Hurdles overcome in practice will lead to a smooth season.

In addition to their physical training, the team has also been working on their mental game. The coaches as well as seniors placed a strong emphasis on the importance of mentality and resilience both on and off the field, teaching the players how to stay focused and composed in high-pressure situations. This preparation will undoubtedly be crucial in helping the team pull through when it matters most. 

Another one of the key strengths that the team has is their combination of experienced returners and talented underclassmen. The mentorship of the team’s upperclassmen will surely be invaluable in guidance for the new season, while the underclassmen bring fresh energy and motivation to the team. With all players working in a cohesive, bonding force, they’ll make an especially formidable opponent for neighboring schools. 

As this season draws near, the excitement is palpable among both players and coaching staff. The team is confident in their abilities as well as their learning journey, and they’re looking forward to taking on their opponents and making their mark on the field. Tallwood fans can rest assured that the team is more than ready to give it their all and put on a show to be remembered this season.
