A teacher and a Coach? Well, Mr. William Paxton is classified as both!

Mr Paxton was born and raised in Harrisonburg Virginia which is just two hours from Washington D.C. He attended James Madison University as an undergraduate and then attended Virginia Tech University to receive his master’s. Currently, he teaches dual enrollment US History and Junior level academy seminar course “Global Systems”. In the past, he taught Psychology, World Geography, World History I, and Standard US History.

Mr Paxton is a very hardworking teacher. Working in the classroom can be just as difficult when coaching on the field.” In many ways it’s similar, we’re still trying to see progress and build people up and help them get to see a different point.” said Mr. Paxton.

It has been two years since Mr.Paxton has been teaching here at Tallwood High School and has gained much love from all his students because of his persona.

Many students enjoy him being such a cool and relatable teacher. “He knows a lot of modern cultures, so he has a lot of good takes on things,” said James Tucker, a Tallwood High School Junior.

Despite Mr.Paxton being so relatable many other students have said they enjoy how he cares about his students. Angela Nguyen, a Tallwood high school Junior, shared her favorite things about Mr. Paxton “ I love his enthusiastic personality and like how he shows that he cares for his students and he checks up on you personally if you’re not okay or how you’re doing.”

Many students share a lot of meaningful conversations with Mr. Paxton. He is a great person to come to with any problems and can give great advice. He will always make sure his students do their best with any task at hand.

Angela Nguyen shares some of her favorite parts in the classroom “ I enjoy when we have to do assignments on what is happening in the World today because it allows us to be more aware of the news and everything like that,”

Mr. Paxton always makes sure students are engaged with the current state of the world and allows all his students to dig deeper into the reality of the world.

“I like that every day it’s something new, it is always a good experience getting to interact with people and seeing the progress,” said Mr. Paxton

Even though it has only been a couple of years since Mr. Paxton working here at Tallwood High School, he is on his way to the top to be one of the most loved teachers. He continues to spread his positivity throughout the school making sure he puts a smile on everyone’s face.
