The perfect “Endgame” to an era of Marvel films

“Avengers: Endgame” is a three-hour long conclusion to an eleven year era of Marvel films. The past twenty one of the franchise have led up to this very movie making this one of the most anticipated watches. The film has made $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office for its debut and luckily, Endgame lives up to the hype.

Like all Marvel films, it has its combination of one-liners and quips, heartwarming scenes, fast-paced battle sequences, and of course, heroic protagonists. However, “Endgame” elevates each of these strengths to pay homage to their beloved fans. Every moment is engaging with handfuls of memorable and entertaining scenes. The long buildup for this film was clearly taken into account. Although it is clear that this is a movie for the fans, casual viewers should still take the time to see it. There are many things that one can appreciate even if every reference doesn’t quite ring a bell.

“The Avengers”, a film which marked the first assembly of the six heroes, was released seven years ago. Beforehand, the audience was already introduced to Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. This allowed “The Avengers” to have a steady buildup to its release. Similarly, before “Avengers: Endgame”, the audience watched those same characters develop and grow throughout the prior movies. The latter had a far greater buildup, but both films were crafted to ensure the audience was familiar with each character. It is clear Marvel wanted to build a connection between the viewers and the protagonists and it is safe to say they achieved this goal.

The film has not been in theaters for long, but it has already broken records. “Avengers: Endgame” will go down as having the biggest opening weekend. Not only will this film make history, but the entirety of the franchise will. Every Marvel film has been successful financially and for good reason. There is always something to look forward to when walking in to see a Marvel movie. Its charm and likeability pull in viewers every year and give them a reason to see more. Even despite their flaws.

“Avengers: Endgame” is a film that is just meant to be seen. From children to adults, fans to non-fans, and cinephiles to casual moviegoers. It’s action-packed, touching, charming, and the perfect end to eleven years of movies.
