6LACK’s new album is worth writing a “love letter” to

Ricardo Valentine, more widely recognized as 6LACK, recently released his sophomore album, “East Atlanta Love Letter”, on September 14th. In an attempt to replicate the success of his 2016 debut album, “Free 6LACK”, he managed to surpass it. While “Free 6LACK” was a testament to the difficulties and troubles of relationships, “East Atlanta Love Letter” puts the more desirable side of relationships on full display. Ranging from family to girlfriends past and present, 6LACK truly has achieved mastery over the R&B genre.

Tracks like “Pretty Little Fears”, “Seasons”, and “Stan” has the singer crooning, assuring that he’s not afraid to put his all into a relationship. 6LACK’s slow, melodic voice slowly begins to touch the heart of the listener on these tracks, making true love seem within arm’s length.

On the other hand, with tracks “Sorry” and “Disconnect”, 6lack returns to his “Free 6LACKroots, to momentarily sing about rough patches in relationships, realizing his mistakes, and desperately trying to make things right. To a similar style, songs “Unfair” and “Let her go” has 6LACK questioning his relationships, while “Loaded Gun”, in contrast, makes it clear that the most important girl he has a relationship with will always be his daughter.

6LACK uses “East Atlanta Love Letter to eliminate any doubt of his skill as a lyricist. And with features and support from A-list artists J. Cole, Khalid, Future, Offset, and Ty Dolla $ign, he lets it known that he’s here to stay.
