School Lunch Too Expensive

School+Lunch+Too+Expensive

Two dollars and seventy-five cents may not seem like much.  However, if you have to come up with that every day it could start to add up. I feel we are overpaying for school lunch.

Tallwood High School has an application we fill out before school to apply for free lunch. The government will determine if you are able to get free lunch based on the income your parents receive. If the government declines it, they are basically saying your parents should be financially stable enough to provide $2.75 everyday.

On the other hand, just because the government may think it’s affordable, there are still bills to pay and other utilities that need to be covered. So coming up with the $2.75 may be more difficult than usual. Also, if you go to school everyday for a whole year it starts to add up.

Some may say $2.75 is nothing.  However, not everybody is has the same financial status. Some may not get money everyday or sometimes the money is just not there.

Therefore, I think paying $2.75 is a bit unreasonable due to the fact we usually have school everyday. Changing the lunch prices would be very beneficial to every students in Tallwood High School and the district as a whole.
